Recalling the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission’s repeated calls for immediate and unconditional cessation of hostilities, the EHRC Chief Commissioner Daniel Bekele said he “welcomes the announcement of cessation of hostilities by the government of Ethiopia and the statement by the Tigray Authorities committing to implement cessation of hostilities. The Commission is of the view that the announced measures and their implementation will contribute significantly to alleviating the dire humanitarian needs both in Tigray and in neighboring Afar and Amhara Regions as well as laying the necessary foundations for a political solution of the conflict.”

EHRC also recalls the findings of its human rights investigation reports and calls on all parties to acknowledge responsibility and implement the recommendations including facilitating conditions for further human rights investigation work.
