Every child has an inherent right to life.  States must ensure, to the maximum extent possible, the survival and development of the child.

According to UN Security Council resolution, the Six Grave Violations against children during armed conflict may constitute;

  • killing and maiming of children,
  • recruitment or use of children as soldiers,
  • sexual violence against children,
  • abduction of children,
  • attacking against schools or hospitals,
  • Denial of humanitarian access for children.
