- Braille is a means of communication, and it is essential in education, freedom of expression and opinion, access to information and social inclusion for those who use it.
Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Article 24(3)(a) & Article 9(2) (d)
States Parties shall:
- Enable persons (who are Blind) to learn life and social development skills to facilitate their full and equal participation in education and as members of the community by facilitating the learning of Braille.
- Take appropriate measures to provide in buildings and other facilities open to the public signage in Braille and in easy to read and understand forms.
