The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is monitoring reports of an attack by armed groups in Limmu Kosa woreda, Ket’cho Kirkira and Gale kebele, Jimma zone on April 23, 2021. Civilian casualties have already been reported. The local administrative bodies of Amaro Special Woreda, Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Region (SNNPR) have also reported that on April 22, 2021, an armed group killed 6 people in Dano kebele.
The Commission remains engaged with relevant federal and regional authorities for an urgent and appropriate response. EHRC has also learnt that regional and federal security forces have deployed to Limmu Kosa woreda. EHRC will continue to follow up on relevant developments. While urging authorities to prevent further attacks, the Commission underscores that the increasingly frequent nature and spread of these attacks calls for an overhaul of the rapid prevention and preparedness capacity of the security mechanisms.
የኢትዮጵያ ሰብአዊ መብቶች ኮሚሽን (ኢሰመኮ) በጂማ ሊሙ ኮሳ ወረዳ፣ ቀጮ ክርክራ እና ጋሌ ቀበሌ በሚያዝያ 15 ቀን 2013 ዓ.ም. በታጠቁ ኃይሎች ስለደረሰ ጥቃት ክትትል በማድረግ ላይ ይገኛል። በተመሳሳይ መልኩ በደቡብ ብሔር፣ ብሔረሰቦች እና ሕዝቦች ክልል አማሮ ልዩ ወረዳ፣ ዳኖ ቀበሌ በሚያዝያ 14 ቀን 2013 ዓ.ም. ታጣቂዎች 6 ሰዎች እንደገደሉ የአካባቢው አስተዳደር አሳውቋል ። በኮሳ ወረዳ የደረሰውን አደጋ ተከትሎም በእለቱ የክልልና የፌዴራል ጸጥታ ሃይሎች ወደ አካባቢው መሰማራታቸውን ኢሰመኮ ተረድቷል።
ኢሰመኮ ከሚመለከታቸው የፌዴራል እና የክልል አካላት ተገቢውን አፋጣኝ ምላሽ እንዲሰጡ በቅርበት እየተነጋገረ ሲሆን፣ የክትትል ተግባሩን የሚቀጥል መሆኑን ያሳውቃል። ኮሚሽኑ በነዋሪዎች ላይ ተጨማሪ ጉዳት እና የሰዎች ሞት ለመከላከል አፋጣኝ እርምጃ እንዲወሰድ እያሳሳበ፣ በሲቪል ሰዎች ላይ የሚደርሱ ጥቃቶች ተደጋጋሚነትና መስፋፋት የፀጥታ መዋቅሩ የመከላከል እና የዝግጁነት አቅም ከፍተኛ መሻሻል ሊደረገበት እንደሚገባ የሚጠቁም መሆኑን በአጽንዖት ጥሪ ያቀርባል።
