EHRC is taking part in the 4th Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (NHRIs) happening in Banjul, the Gambia, on 12 and 13 April 2022. Themed “Integrating the Protect, Respect and Remedy Framework to Business and Human Rights in Africa, as a Lever towards the Acceleration of Human, Social, and Economic Capital Development”, the forum brought together representatives from NHRIs across the continent.
The Commission reiterates its "call for building on the recent developments towards a sustainable political solution and peace, restoration of basic services, rehabilitation of victims and affected areas in Afar, Amhara and Tigray as well as accountability measures for justice.
EHRC calls all partners to do more expanding services including for IDPs and migrant returnees.
EHRC welcomes the announcement of cessation of hostilities by the government of Ethiopia and the statement by the Tigray Authorities committing to implement cessation of hostilities.
