Over the last month, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) in collaboration with Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights East Africa Regional Office (OHCHR-EARO) carried out a series of consultations with over 200 participants comprising conflict-affected victims and survivors, internally displaced persons, traditional leaders and elders, religious leaders, and grassroot civil society actors, to map unique Ethiopian traditional or religious reconciliation and accountability processes which could support transitional justice.
The consultation aimed to gather views on transitional justice including truth-seeking, reparations, and non-recurrence. It also aimed to raise awareness at the local levels on transitional justice components and processes. Such consultations will continue in other regions in the coming weeks and months, which will be followed by a final report.
ባለፈው ወር ውስጥ የኢትዮጵያ ሰብአዊ መብቶች ኮሚሽን (ኢሰመኮ) ከተባበሩት መንግሥታት ድርጅት የሰብአዊ መብቶች ከፍተኛ ኮሚሽነር ጽሕፈት ቤት የምስራቅ አፍሪካ ሪጅን ጽሕፈት ቤት OHCHR-EARO ጋር በመተባበር ከግጭት ተጎጂዎች፣ የሀገር ውስጥ ተፈናቃዮች፣ የባህላዊ መሪዎችና የሀገር ሽማግሌዎች፣ የሃይማኖት አባቶች እና ሲቪል ማኅበራትን ያካተቱ ከ200 በላይ ተሳታፊዎች ጋር ምክክር አድርጓል።
የምክክር መድረኩ የሽግግር ፍትሕን ሊደግፉ የሚችሉ ልዩ የኢትዮጵያ ባህላዊ ወይም ሃይማኖታዊ የእርቅ እና ተጠያቂነት ሂደቶችን መለየትና መመዝገብ፤ ተሳታፊዎች በሽግግር ፍትሕ ላይ በተለይም እውነትን መፈለግ፣ ማካካሻ እና አለመደገምን ጨምሮ ያላቸውን አስተያየት ማሰባሰብ አላማ አድርጎ የተዘጋጀ ነው። በተጨማሪም ወደ ክልሎች ወርዶ በሽግግር ፍትሕ መንገዶች እና ሂደቶች ላይ ግንዛቤን ለማሳደግ ያለመ ነው። መሰል ምክክሮች በሚቀጥሉት ሳምንታት እና ወራት ውስጥ በሌሎች ክልሎች የሚቀጥሉ ሲሆን በመጨረሻም አጠቃላይ ሪፖርት ይፋ ይደረጋል።
