Ethiopia's candidate, Abdi Jibril Ali, has been elected to the United Nations Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR), securing 49 votes from the 54-member UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) during elections held in New York on April 8, 2026
